UGANDA KOBS DRAW TANZANIA AND GUEST TEAM IN CECAFA CHALLENGE CUP.

The group stages’ line-up for the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup has been completed.

Uganda U-23 National Team the Kobs has been drawn against Tanzania and the tournament guests Democratic Republic of Congo in Group A in the forthcoming zonal challenge cup that is slated to kickoff on Saturday. 17th. July. 2021 in Ethiopia.

Unlike the previous CECAFA tournaments, this year edition has been reserved for the under 23s and not the senior national team sides as it has always been the case  but with the option of each team field three players above the age of 23 years of age.

 In the other groups, tournament hosts Ethiopia, Burundi and Eritrea are in Group B while Djibouti, South Sudan and Kenya will play in Group C.

Uganda will open up the tournament against Democratic Republic of Congo on 18th. July and play against Tanzania on 25th. July. 2021.

 The Kobs expected to depart for the tournament on Wednesday. 14.  July. 2021.

Uganda’s fixtures:

Sunday, 18th July 2021: Uganda Vs DR Congo (2 PM)

Sunday, 25th July 2021: Uganda Vs Tanzania (4 PM)

The winners from each group joined by one second best-placed in all the groups will advance to the semi-finals.

The tournament will be held in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia from Saturday. 17th. July. 2021; however, FERWAFA, football governing body of Rwanda announced a pull-out of its team amidst fears of the highly infectious Covid-19 Delta variant that had been reported in Ethiopia.
