Mwase wants swimming integrated into school curriculum.

The new president of Uganda Swimming Federation still holds a strong mind that swimming should be given a slot in the national school curriculum.

Moses Mwase recently took over the chief executive position of the swimming body from Dr. Donald Rukare who had served as the swimming federation president for over a decade.

Mwase wants to start an initiative with the education ministry to see that swimming can be added to the national curriculum.

“I think Swimming is a life skill and should not be looked at as an activity for people to relax.” Mwase said.

“FINA has got a special programme called Swim for all-swim for life, which encourages mass participation for people from all walks of life. So we are latching on the programme as Uganda Swimming Federation and pushing it through our masters' campaign, and at the different levels,” Mwase added while speaking to SportzNow in an exclusive interview.

“So we would like to work with the Ministry of Education and Sports to on an integrated school curriculum that encourages swimming despite the lack of facilities."

Mwase added; "We have a strategic plan that has guided us up to where we are. We hope to continue increasing our presence in Kampala but more importantly outside Kampala. We want everyone to be able to swim.”

“Am humbled that I am at the helm of swimming now and I will continue pressing the agenda for development and taking swimming to greater heights,” he concluded.

Before his appointed to the top most position in the federation, Moses Mwase has been serving the swimming fraternity as general secretary since 2013. He also served as treasurer, among other roles.
