WOMEN FOOTBALL: CRESTED CRANES FORWARD REACHES CAREER MILESTONE.

Former Kawempe Muslim Football Club (Women) forward and Uganda Crested Cranes star Sandra Nabweteme has landed a maiden professional contract with Thor/KA football club featuring in Iceland topflight league.

Nabweteme who completed her studies, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) in USA last year broke the news for her career break through via her face book social media account.

“I am happy to announce that I signed my first professional soccer contract with Thor/Ka of Iceland. I am so excited and I can’t wait to get to work man!!!” The post read in part.

“I want to thank God for this blessing and everybody who has been with me through it all and has helped me reach this point of my life! It’s a dream come true for me. My family, friends and Fans, Thank you! Thank you!”

Nabweteme now joins the likes of Ritah Kivumbi, Viola Nambi and Shiraz Natasha who also ply their trade in Europe.

Kivumbi and Nambi are in Sweden while Natasha is in Denmark.

Nabweteme was part of the wonder Kawempe Muslim squad of 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 seasons and in those two seasons, she won the to-scorers’ golden boot scoring 17 and 23 goals respectively.

After the 2015/2016 season, Nabweteme got a study scholarship at the Southwestern Oklahoma State University in USA from where she graduated in 2020.

Por/KA is an Iceladic women’s ffotball team based in Akureyri and currently competes in the Urvalsdeild Kvenna.

In 2012 the 1999 founded team secured its first ever Icelandic championship and on September. 29. 2017 they won their second Icelandic championship.
