The All Girls National Junior Championship is coming to Namugongo Secondary and Vocational School after close to two years of no volleyball action at this stage.

The best girl athletes in volleyball will once again come together to showcase their athletic  potential and achievement and will also have the opportunity to celebrate the return of the intimate and magnificent secondary schools volleyball championship that will be taking place for the very first time since the national ban on sports was lifted by the government. The ban on sports activities was one of the measures the government of Uganda deployed in 2020 to curb down on the spread of the corona virus and thus the deadly Covid 19 pandemic.

The 15th Edition of the All Girls National Junior Championship will be graced by over 14 participating schools, led by volleyball nursery bed and power house, Kinawa High School who are also the defending champions. Kinawa defeated Katikamu SDA S.S.S in 2020 shortly before the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic led to the total closure of all social gatherings.

The other house hold names expected at the championship are Trust High Schools, the championship record holders with four titles; Katikamu SDA S.S.S; Nabisunsa Girls' School, Hilton High School, Mukono and St. Elizabeth Girls' School, Mbarara among others.

The championship will also be a unique celebration of the sport following the country being under lock down with no major sporting activities for close to two years.

"This is the biggest bonanza for the junior girl volleyball athletics and we are excited to have it once again," Uganda Volleyball Federation Vice President Kairungi Salma Otika said.

According to the Schools Commission, the Uganda Volleyball Federation arm  under whose docket this championship is run, the championship also doubles as a platform for the young  girls get exposure, develop their skills as they are prepared for more senior national and international engagements.

All the participating schools will have the opportunity to field more than one team in the four categories, namely; U12, U16, U18 and U20.

Winners in the various categories will walk away with team and individual medals and certificates; trophies and scholastic material among others.
