The Silverbacks started their qualification journey on a wrong after falling to Angola at the on on going FIBA World Cup Qualifiers 2023 in Angola.

The Silverbacks finished the first quarter trailing by six points ( 9 -17) and failed to cover throughout the game despite putting up a spirited fight.

Coming to the second quarter, the Uganda National Basketball team pushed thier opponents in what turned out to eventually be their best quarter but could couldn't out score the Angolans who still maintained thier lead at 28 - 34 by half time.

After half time, coming into the third quarter, the Angolans maintained thier dominance over an I'll prepared Silverbacks; taking their lead to 25 points by the end of the quarter_ 34 - 59.

Going it in the last quarter, it was now play for damage control because the Silverbacks didn't not have any solutions what so ever to pull back and gain a decent result; with the game ending 49 - 82.

The poor show by the Silverbacks can be blamed on many short falls which included among others; poor preparations, inadequate funding, the team travelling late for the championship as well as moving with a shallow squad.

It should be noted that the Silverbacks flew out on the night Friday. 24th. February. 2023 with only 9 players out the 12 players and were expected on the floor for thier first game on Saturday. 25th. February.2023.

The Squad:
