The Uganda Cranes is currently in camp in Douala working hard in their last preparations ahead of the Championship of Africa Nations (CHAN) Finals where they will be starting their campaign against Amavubi Stars of Rwanda on Monday, 18th, January, 2020 in Douala Cameroon.

According to Head Coach Johnathan Mckinstry, the energy in camp is good everyone is focused on maximizing the final week of preparations.

“7 days remaining until we kick off against Amavubi Stars in Douala. Energy in camp is good with everyone focused on maximizing the final week of preparations and being in peak condition for the 18th January,” Mckinstry wrote on his Twitter platform.

The Cranes started their preparations for CHAN with a one week camp in Kampala and then travelled to Yaounde Cameroon where they took part in the Pre- CHAN Mini Tournament; playing three games, winning two games (2-0 and 3-0 against Zambia and Niger respectively) and drawing one game against Cameroon which ended 1 all.

After the tournament, the Cranes moved to Douala Cameroon for a private camp which will be winded up on Wednesday, 13th, January, 2020 before the tournament finally kicks off on 16th January, 2020.

However, besides all the attention and tension being on this match being an East African derby, it will also be the first time for the Cranes boss to take on his former employers since he took on the mantle with the Uganda Cranes.

The Cranes will play alongside the defending Champions Morocco, Rwanda and Togo in Douala.

The“2020” Total Championship of Africa Nations (CHAN) Finals will be played from Saturday, 16th, January to Sunday, 7th, February, 2021.

Uganda Cranes have never made it past the group stages.
