This year's edition of the NSSF Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club tournament is expected to kick off on Friday. 5th. August. 2022 at the MTN Sports Arena, Lugogo as well as the National Hockey Ground, Lugogo, Kampala.

Kick-off of the three-day event (5th. August - 7th. August) is expected to be at 08:00 am, according to the organizers.

This year's edition which is the 24th returns after a two year suspension 2020 and 2021 which was as a result of the outbreak of the COVID-19 Pandemic which saw all the sports activities in the country suspended as a measure to stop its rapid spread.

Upon return, Uganda's most prestigious tournament comes back with the same hype as a centre of attraction with many of the big teams in the East African region expected to be in action.

The invitational tournament which features both men and women teams from Uganda and the neighboring East African countries has attracted 10 teams women’s; 8 from Uganda, 1 from Rwanda and 1 from South Sudan.

The men's category has attracted 16 teams from Uganda, with the host KAVC entering 2 teams. 

From across the boards, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi and South Sudan are represented by two teams each.

Kenya who produced the champion; Home Grown Volleyball Team in the men's category in 2019, the last time the tournament was held has not been represented.

Since 2000, KAVC has consistently organized the annual tournament in honor of its founders; and for the past 12 years, they have been moving with National Social Security Fund _ NSSF as the main sponsor.

This year, NSSF had supported the tournament with a sponsorship package worth Ug. Shs. 70 million.

The tournament has also a number partners which include among other; DHL, Pepsi, Centenary Bank, Pallisa Agro Processors LTD, Ministry of Health, Uganda Olympics Committee and Uganda Volleyball Federation.

KAVC _ Men last won this tournament in 2018 and will have to put up a spirited fight against OBB Volleyball Club, the reigning Uganda National League Champions, REG and APR from Rwanda as well as COBRA Volleyball Club from South Sudan and Rukinzo who are among the favorites.

KCB-Nkumba University Volleyball Club _ Women are the defending champions. They overcame Ndejje University Elites Volleyball Club, winning by with a sets score of 3 - 1.

To access the MTN Sports Arena, one will have to part away with Ug. Shs 5000 only while it will be free access at the outside courts at the National Hockey Ground; and for the first time in the history of the event, games are going to be streamed live for those will not be unable to make it to Lugogo.
