AFCON 2021 QUALIFIERS: GAMBIAN OFFICIALS TO HANDLE UGANDA VS BURKINA FASO.

African football governing body Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Gambian officials to officiate the AFCON 2021 Qualifier game between Uganda VS Burkina Faso.

Bakary Papa Gassama will be the main man assisted by Abdul Aziz Bollel Jawo and Sulayman Sosseh as 1st and 2nd Assistant Referee respectively; with Maudo Jallow as Fourth Official.

The Match Commissioner will be Jean-Didier Masamba Malunga Commissioner from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) while James Sekajugo from Uganda will handle the COVID-19 docket.

Uganda VS Burkina Faso will be played in Kampala on 24th. March. 2021 and it will be the Uganda Cranes’ 5th game in Group B game.

Group B is composed of Uganda, Burkina Faso, Malawi and South Sudan.

The Cranes started the AFCON 2021 qualifying campaign with a goalless draw with Burkina Faso on 13th. November. 2019 at the Stade du 4 Aout, Ouagadougou. The game was handled by North African officials from Algeria led by Nabil Boukhalfa as Center Referee.

This was followed by a 2-0 win over Malawi on 17th. November. 2019 at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole. The Cranes’ scorers Emmanuel Okwi in the 29th minute and Fahad Bayo in the 68th minute.

Game three was the 1-0 win against South Sudan on 12th November. 2020 at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende. The only goal was scored by substitute Halid Lwaliwa in the 86th minute.

In game four, the Cranes lost 1-0 to South Sudan on 16th November. 2020 at the Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi. The goal (penalty) was scored by Tito Okello in the 35th minute.

Uganda has qualified for the past two AFCON editions; 2017 in Gabon and 2019 in Egypt.
