STANBIC UGANDA CUP FINAL: WE ARE GOING FOR GLORY SAYS VIPERS SC ASSISTANT COACH.
Vipers Sports Club Assistant Coach Marcelo Cardoso insists he is not concerned by BUL Football Club’ recent semi final performance as he prepares his side for the Sunday. 26th. September. 2021 show down in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Final at the FUFA Technical Centre Stadium, Njeru.
BUL FC reached the final after 1-0 win in their semi final tie against Express Football Cup.
Vipers SC who have 1 Uganda Cup title which they won in 2016 against Onduparaka Football Club (3-1) with the goals coming through Pius Wangi x 2 and Erisa Sekisambu will be playing in their 5th Uganda Cup Final and Marcelo Cardoso says that his side is ready to go for glory.
“The only aim, the only focus, and all our energy is going to be on winning that trophy, it doesn’t matter where we start. We are going to go for it,” said Marcelo Cardoso while speaking to told the club media _ www.viperssc.co.ug.
To reach this year’s Final, Vipers SC defeated Police Football Club _2-0 scoring through Cersar Manzoki.
Vipers SC have played four Uganda Cup finals; won one final against Onduparaka FC and lost three finals.
Vipers has lost (1-0) their first Uganda Cup Final to URA Football Club in 2012 in Gulu; lost 5-3 in post match penalties to Sports Club Victoria University after the game ending 1 all in the 90 minutes and Extra Time in Mbale and the other loss (1-0) came against KCCA Football Club in 2017 in Bukedea.
For BUL FC, it will be the team’s 1st Uganda Cup appearance but with a coach who has won this title 2 times as a coach in Alex Isabirye.
Alex Isabirye was the Head Coach of URA FC and SC Victoria University when they defeated Vipers SC in two finals.
