UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE: KALANDA REGAINS SCORING BOOTS.

Substitute forward Frank Kalanda scored the solitary goal for Express Football Club as his side pick picked up a hard fought 1-0 win in the Star Times Uganda Premier League against Kitara Football Club on Tuesday. 2nd. March. 2021 evening at Kavumba Recreation Grounds, Wakiso.

Kitara who have not won a game this season started the game on a high but Express FC’s stood their ground not to fall; thanks to the hard working defensive partnership of Issa Lumu and Murusid Jjuko who shielded their goalkeeper from the Kitara attack threat.

Express FC also had their chances in the first half with the notable ones falling to George Senkaaba and Charles Misiige.

Senkaaba had his effort fly over the  cross bar when he headed on goal Arthur Kigundu’s free-kick cross in the 20th minute with Musiige’s also splashed his effort over the bar after a very good run through the Kitara defense.

After the break, Kitara kept on with the pressure in attack but could not break the resilient Express who were on a mission to extend their unbeaten run.

Five into the second half, Express FC Head Coach Wasswa Bbossa introduced Kalanda for the injured Senkaaba.

Into the last quarter of the game, express FC got on the score sheet with a Frank Kalanda striker from the penalty spot in the 74th minute.

The penalty was as a result of Patrick Mugume handling the ball in the goal keeper’s area and thus got penalized by centre referee Asadu Ssemere.

Wasswa Bbossa’s side’s 7th league victory lifted them to 25 points from 11 games; 1 points against Vipers Sport Club who have a game in hand.

Kitara FC’s 10th defeat in 11 games left them bottom of the table with just 1 point and facing an early relegation battle.
