AFCON 2027: DEAL IS DONE AS UGANDA, KENYA AND TANZANIA WIN PAMOJA BID.

In a groundbreaking announcement on Wednesday the 29th.09.2023, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed that Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania are the official hosts of the prestigious Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2027, following a joint bid known as "Pamoja." This monumental decision set the stage for an extraordinary sporting event that would not only showcase Africa's soccer prowess but also its commitment to unity and collaboration.

Uganda, one of the key hosts, displayed an impressive array of facilities and venues. At the heart of their bid was the renowned Mulago Hospital, standing ready to ensure the health and well-being of athletes and visitors alike. For accommodation, the Sheraton Hotel and Kampala Serena Hotel are thought of in promising luxurious stays for all attendees.

For training grounds, Uganda proposed world-class facilities of Kampala International School Uganda (KISU) and Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku among others. These venues would serve as the training hubs for the participating teams, where they would hone their skills and strategies in preparation for the tournament.

In the realm of stadiums, Uganda presented an exciting array of choices. The iconic Mandela National Stadium, Denver Godwin Stadium in Garuga, St. Mary's Stadium, and Nakivubo Stadium which were all chosen as the primary battlegrounds where the electrifying matches would unfold. Additionally, Uganda proposed the construction of two new stadiums: Akii Bua Stadium and Hoima, adding to the excitement of the tournament's growth and development.

Facilitating international travel, Uganda will provide access through Entebbe International Airport, Kabalega Airport, and Hoima Airport, ensuring  that fans and teams from around the globe can easily reach the host nation.

As the news of this collaborative effort spread, excitement and anticipation rippled through the football-loving communities of Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. The AFCON 2027 under the Pamoja bid promises not only to be a celebration of soccer but also a testament to the unity and shared aspirations of these East African nations.
