After a long wait of over 16 months minus Motorcross action in the country; it was all exciting as racers returned to the track to battle out in the opening event of the 2021 Motorcycling Association (MAU) calendar event; the 1st round of the MAU MX Challenge at the Uganda Motorsport Arena, Busiika on Sunday. 21st. February. 2021.

The season opener which also served as the opener for the seven series that are lined up for the year attracted over 60 riders and it was a enjoy to watch because it lived to the expectations of many of the participants as it was very competitive.

In the MX2 class, Fortune Sentamu took the day winning all the three heats. Ali Omar and Robert Jingo finished in second and third position respectively.

In the 65cc category, Pascal Kasozi was the star to watch in all the thre heats as he tightly beat off the stiff competition from Ramathan Mubiru and Zion Wekesa who finish in second and third position respectively.

In the MX1 category, Aviv Orland emerged winner with 57 points ahead of Nathan Hamlin (USA) and National Motorcross Captain Maxime Van Pee who finished second and third with 54 and 45 points respectively.

When it came to the MX125cc, Kylan Wekesa finished in position one followed by Wazir Omar in second and Yuri Sobol in third.

Alon Orland won the 85cc class with Milton Akaki and Gift Ssebuguzi coming second and third respectively.

Speed master’s Larry Ssekamwa in the 50cc class lived upto the expectations of many winning all the three heats. Lionel Kalema and Jamila Mukiibi came second and third respectively while in the 50cc junior class, Jude Kyle Musedde was the “man” to beat.
