Former Rally Driver loses battle to COVID -19.

The motorsport fraternity Uganda is in shock, mourning the sudden passing on of former rally driver Wilberforce Pole Pole who is said to have died as a result of complications from Covid-19. 

Pole Pole was first admitted at the Entebbe Grade B hospitals before he was transferred to Victoria hospital, Kampala were he lost battle to Covid - 19 on the evening of Tuesday 15th. December. 2020.

Pole Pole was very active in motorsport  in the mid-2000s.

Together with his co-driver Joseph Bongole, Pole Pole won the Collines Milles Rally in 2016 in Rwanda.

His last appearance was during the 2017 Pearl of Africa Rally and had since then turned into a rally follower.

“Pole Pole was as well a strong pillar in the motorsport family and he used to give a few drivers support both financial and in kind,” Unissan Bakunda a former co-driver and friend said of him.

“He was so jolly, selfless, loved competition. He was really a good man to all and my good friend,” Bakunda added.

The former rally driver will be laid to rest on Thursday, 17th, December, 2020 in Kitunga, Ntungamo; western Uganda.
