Uganda Rugby Lady Cranes thrashed their counterparts from Zimbabwe 41-0 in the Rugby Africa Cup Group C game one on the afternoon of Wednesday. 14th. July. 2021 at the Kyadondo Rugby Grounds, Lugogo.

The Lady Cranes were outstanding in their encounters as they combined well their abilities, skills and movements to walk-over the Zimbabwe Women Sables who enjoyed some significant possession in the early stages of the games.

On gaining noteworthy influence on the game, then came the first scoring moment and celebration for the first Try by Samiya Ayikoru.

Ayikoru crashed through the Zimbabweans from deep finishing off a superb move that was started by Charlotte Mudoola however Mudoola failed on the conversion.

After tasting a score, the Lady Cranes were back at it again this time getting behind the white line through Emilly Lekuru.

At half time, the score was 10- 0 in favor of the hosts.

Winnie Atyang was named the Player of the Match.

After the break, the Leonard Lubambula’s troops just continued from where they broke off from and with just 14 minutes into the second half, Peace Lekuru had gotten over the white line thanks to the good work from Scrumhalf Julie Nandawula.

After Lekuru’s score, Mudoola stepped up with a successful conversion.

Zimbabwe went defensive and for all the last 30 minutes of the game, it were Uganda running over the guests for fun and into the final minutes of the game, Asha Nakityo touched down over the white line and the eventual coversion, the final kick of the game was successfully taken by Masitula Namboozo.

After the game, Winnie Atyang was named the Player of the Match.

The meeting was the first one between these two national teams which ended 41- 0.

A sweet victory it was for the Rugby Lady Cranes over Zimbabwe Women Sables who are ranked 38th in the world rankings; one position ahead of Uganda.

The Lady Cranes will be back in action against the same opposition on Sunday. 18th. July. 2021 at the Kyadondo Rugby Grounds, Lugogo.
