Our goal is to give every child in school a chance to play the sport with opportunities to play at the highest level in country and at the continent. Tug of war doesn’t require a lot of equipment with high costs like other sports and relatively affordable administratively. I therefore call upon all country men and women, well-wishers and schools both primary and secondary to come join us and benefit from this smart goal” said Dr. Kintu Edmund President FUTWA.

The federation believes that primary and secondary school together with tertiary institution are a big opportunity to the sport since they a number of youths already paced together in one area making it easy to engage activities for better results in a short term.
The federation is also in final touches to hold a regional Tug of War tournament for all the 16 provinces in the country;- Buganda, Lango, Acholi, Westnile, Busoga, Rwenzori, Kigezi, Bugisu, Teso, Bukedi, Kampala, Tooro, Karamoja, Sebei, Ankole and Bunyoro.

The road for Tug of War from grassroots is clear and we witnessed this in the recently completed Heroes Day Tug of War gala that was held in Luuka District at Mwesigwa International School and Home of Disabilities where we saw more than 3 schools (Nawandala Seed S.S, Kiyunga MuslimS.S, Ikumbya S.S) participating and enjoying the game for their first time. We have also held schools tours, the eastern region secondary and primary schools tours in different parts of the country so we believe the sky is just the limit,” Said Mr. Mpiiya Ibrahim FUTWA National Technical Officer
