TOTALENERGIES CHAN 2022: WE ARE READY MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY TO PUSH FOR A GOOD START.

The Uganda Cranes will be stepping on to the pitch for yet again another continental challenge on Saturday. 14th. January. 2023 seeking for a perfect start against the Democratic Republic of Congo ( D.R.C) in Group B; in the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2022 at the Stade 19th May 1956, Annaba, Algeria.

According to the Uganda Cranes Captain Milton Karisa, the team is ready and prepared both mentally and physically to begin this national pride expedition on a high note and he is very hopeful for a positive result for the D.R.C encounter.

While speaking to the media after the Cranes' last training session on Friday. 13th. January. 2023 at Stade Chabbou, Karisa said;

"We are ready both mentally and physically.

"Everyone on the team is pushing towards making ourselves and the country proud.

"The ultimate target is to go beyond the group stages, a thing we have not done in the past.”

At this year's CHAN championship, Uganda will be making her 6th appearance at the second biggest continental nations' football tournament.

Additionally, like the Captain, Uganda Cranes Head Coach Milutin Sredojevic is also optimistic that the team will deliver a good result against the D.R.C.

“After three weeks of preparations, it is now time to deliver and do better than before, said Coach Milutin Sredojevic.

"The players are in the right shape and we hope victory will come our way on Saturday.

“Every game in the Group in crucial but to win the first game is important. It helps boost confidence going into the next games, " he added.

It's a big game for the Cranes because a win will not only ease the pressure on the team whose performance hasn't been good for the last five editions but also help the team to register it's second win at the championship finals; a start that can also aid the team to make it out of the group stages for the very first time.

Uganda's other opponents in Group B include west African football house hold names in Senegal and Ivory Coast.
