STANBIC UGANDA CUP DRAWS DROP LUCKING BUL FC TO SHINING EXPRESS FC IN THE SEMI FINALS
Stanbic Uganda Cup semifinals draws have been held at FUFA House, Mengo in Kampala on Monday, 9th August 2021
The Stanbic Uganda Cup semifinal games will be played on home and away basis between August 19 and 31, 2021 confirmed by Aisha Nalule the FUFA Competitions Director.
1st Legs:
Match No.57: Police Vs Vipers – MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo
Match No.58: BUL Vs Express – Kyabazinga Stadium – Bugembe, Jinja.
Express will face BUL Bidco FC. The Red Eagles are the most successful team in this competition with 10 titles in the bag and if they win this time it will be their 11th title.
BUL FC are yet to win the cup and will look at this as their biggest chance of making history. Bul FC eliminated defending champions Proline FC, courtesy of 2-1 tie win after two legs.
The games will be played between August 19 and 31, 2021 but dates are yet to be confirmed by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations(FUFA).
Vipers have been drawn against Police FC. Vipers is looking to win only their second cup with their first coming in 2016 in a 3-1 victory over Onduparaka FC. Vipers eliminated UPDF FC in the round of 16 by a 4-2 after tie before knocking out SC Villa by 3-1 aggregate victory in the quarterfinals
The Cops have never lifted the trophy but this could be the first time for them to go as far as winning their first. Police will host the first leg at the Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
The football governing body also confirmed that the 2020/21 licences will be used because this Uganda Cup is for 2020/21 season. They also asserted that any player who have accumulated yellow and red cards will be upheld.
It was also confirmed that a new venue for the final will be decided as Masindi, the initial hosts will not be able to host the final while upholding the current COVID-19 guidelines regards ensuring there are no fans in the stadium.
