Great News is happening to Ugandan sport and particularly to the basketball fraternity.

On Thursday.7th.July. 2022; Namuwongo based team Namumongo Blazers Basketball Club unveiled a shirt sponsor in a partnership worthy Ug. Shs.70,000,000/- million.

The partnership that is expected to will until the end of this current season will see the NamBlazers place Flutter Wave logo on the front of their league kit.

The financial boast comes in the NamBlazers pockets as they strive to finish in a high playoffs position in their first ever full National Basketball League season.

While speaking at the official unveiling presser at Hotel African, the Chief Executive Officer of NamBlazers, Haji Farouk Zinda said that the team is now in position to light up the league with good performances and results.

“We are confident that we can now challenge at all levels with the financial support from Flutter wave. We intend to beat every team in the league including the 7 times champions City Oilers who have never beaten us," Hajj Farouk Zinda said.

 “We are grateful for the partnership with Flutter wave. We are happy they have looked at our vision and have bought into it. With the Flutter Wave Support, we believe we can rise high this season. The sponsorship will enable us to create an even more exciting experience for our fans. It is the first step to taking Namblazers to the next level," he added.

"We would like to appreciate the entire team from Flutter Wave for making this possible,"

Nielsimms Sangho, East Africa Regional Manager at Flutter Wave said that they decided to partner with Namblazers as a way to help sport flourish in Uganda and Africa at large.

"We are a global company with strong African roots and therefore want to do all we can to ensure that African sports can flourish," Nielsimms Sangho noted.

"At the centre of our vision and mission, sports is part of uniting Africa and the Namblazers is part of the story. The team symbolises what we are: building and expanding," he added.

"We're incredibly excited to partner with one of Uganda's most promising and exciting sports team and wish them the best of luck with the season ahead," he further noted.

"This is the beginning as we look to work together to become a deeper part of the local community."

With this partnership, the NamBlazers will also have the privilege to sell their Match Day Tickets using Flutte Wave's ticketing platform and also set up a club e-commerce store where fans will be able to purchase club merchandise.

 

The NamBlazers sit fourth on the NBL logo and their first game under this Flutter Wave sponsorship will be against the Oilers next Friday at the YMCA.
