Express Football Club Assistant Head Coach hailed his troops for putting up an astonishing performance against Al Merrikh in the preliminary round first leg of the CAF Champions League on Friday. 10th. September. 2021 at the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende but was also first to state that even with the win, the team didn’t not play according to plan because they target was to win minus conceding.

Speaking to the club website www.expressfc.co.ug after the game, James Odoch the Assistant Head Coach said he was pleased with the team’s performance but with some limitations.

“I think we played a good game but we didn’t follow the game plan to the dot,” Odoch noted.

“We didn’t want to concede but that’s what happened so we shall go back to training and correct our mistakes and by the time we head to Khartoum we would have prepared well,” he added.

Express FC scored through Erick Kambale and Martin Kizza while Bakri Abd Elgadir gave the visitor their only goal.

The Red Eagles travel to Khartoum with a 2-1 aggregate lead and will take on Al Merrikh in the return leg on September. 17th. 2021.
