FEDERATION OF UGANDA TUG OF WAR ASSOCIATION TO ENTER PARTNERSHIP WITH BUGANDA KINGDOM.
The Federation of Uganda Tug of War Associations (FUTWA) and Buganda Kingdom through the ministry of Sports are in advanced stages of launching the game of Tug of War to be officially taken on as one of the kingdom's activity games.
FUTWA represented by Ronald Mayanja-Omugalanda the General Secretary and Joshua Sevume the Marketing Manager; and accompanied by Nusrah Sittankya the Tug of War Buganda Kingdom Coordinator visited Owek. Herny Ssekabembe Kiberu the Minister of Sports in the Government of Buganda on Tuesday. 21st. March. 2023 to explore a working relationship.
Among the items discussed the representatives from FUTWA requested the Owek. Ssekabembe allow them introduce the game of TUG OF WAR ( Ensitano yo Muguwa) in the Kingdom of Buganda.

In his remarks, Owek. Ssekabembe welcomed the idea but was quick to advice the FUTWA team to avail him with a clearance from National Council of Sports which he said would aid a quick kick off process of FUTWA initiating a working relationship with the Kingdom of Buganda.
Owek. Ssekabembe also added that Tug of War (Ensitano yo Muguwa) can be bundled with other non-stand alone games like ekiggwo among others as away of introducing it to the people of the kingdom.

He also revealed that having a game like Tug of War would be a great way of using sport in promoting teamwork and unity within clans.
Sevume the FUTWA Marketing Manager noted that Tug of War will also be used as a tool to mobilize and increase Masaza Football Tournament supporter turnup since every Saza will have to create its own Tug of war team which will be made up of it's supporters.
He added that they would look at the option of establishing the Masaza Tug of war Competition which may act as a cartain raiser game before and during the halftime of the Masaza football games.
In addition as the game grows, other competitions like the Bika Byabaganda Tug of War Competition would also be explored.
Mayanja Omugalanda, the General Secretary of FUTWA was very delighted with the meeting and pledged that they will continue to have such stakeholder engagements to ensure that the sport gains popularity as well as attracting more public involvement in Buganda and beyond.
