“For us to be able to grow this sport into a more competitive cricketing nation internationally, we need to have seasoned professionals playing it and in this case we need to have a professional league to begin with,” Nuwagaba said.

“Getting in resources will be crucial to my agenda, to revitalize the competition in the domestic leagues and may be do away with a “two-man” competition which is seen mainly with the men’s league which is dominated by two team.

“We want to see the game spread out in different teams, to compete against each other, as opposed to just having 15 top players in two teams dominating the rest,” Nuwagaba added.

To cement his agenda and vision for Uganda cricket, Nuwagaba is also looking at grass –root development starting with the mini-cricket, junior cricket and schools cricket which he says will be a backbone in making his dream of having a professional league come true.

Nuwagaba who served as the secretary of UCA for two years before his election replaced Bashir Assasira as Chairman when he was voted unopposed at the Uganda Cricket Association elective Annual General Meeting that was held on Saturday. 29th. May. 2021 at Kati Kati restaurant, Lugogo.
