In a display of skill, teamwork, and athletic prowess, as the highly anticipated 5th Edition of the Pentagon Post Primary Tournament; a Schools football and netball tournament, organized by the renowned Pentagon Development Club of Gombe Division, Wakiso District took place on Friday. 16th to Saturday 17th. June. 2023.

The tournament which is organized with the aim of giving platform to Wakiso District schools that cannot favorably compete in the National Post Primary Games organized by the Uganda Secondary Schools Association under the Ministry of Education and Sports attracted 13 schools from with all the action taking place at Lwadda play ground, Matugga.

The teams that showed up for both football and netball were divided into two group with group stages games which were followed by knockout round; a format that ensured that each team had the opportunity to showcase their skills.

In football, defending champion Imperial High School beat Cityland College 1-0 while in the netball final; St. Mary's High School defeated St. John's Secondary School 27:12.

“I am so delighted and thankful to Pentagon Development Club for organizing this tournament. Personally I regard it as a brilliant idea because only students are allowed to participate and no mercenaries are tolerated.

“The fact that Ssaka Mpima is one of the overseers gives us and the students morale to showcase the best of their abilities with hope that the best with be rewarded on merit,” said John Bosco Mugambwa, Head Teacher of St.John's Secondary School.

“I am so happy to announce that we have successfully held our 5th edition of the Pentagon Post Primary Tournament.

“We had 13 schools that competed in two disciplines; netball and football.

“I want to thank all the schools that have taken the initiative to show up and I promise them a bigger and better 6th edition,” said Joseph Semusu, Chairperson; Pentagon Post Primary Tournament organizing committee.

PARTCIPANTS

The event was concluded with a grand awards ceremony where each participating school was recognized for their sportsmanship and commitment to excellence.

The Pentagon Development Club vowed to continue nurturing the young talents in the region, supporting both their academic and athletic pursuits.
