GOALKEEPER CHARLES LUKWAGO BIDS FINAL FAREWELL TO KCCA WITH EMOTIONAL MESSAGE.
With Charles Lukwago putting pen to paper on a two-year deal at St. George Sports Club, the goalkeeper took to twitter to bid a final goodbye to his former side now; KCCA Football Club.
Lukwago thanked KCCA, wishing them the best for the future as he prepares to play out the next part of his career in Ethiopia.
He wrote on his Twitter handle:
“Dear KCCA Football Club faithful, it is with so much emotion that I leave KCCA Football Club.
“This has been one of the toughest decisions of my life but one that I had to make to challenge myself.
“I can’t put into words the love I have for the fans of this club. Your inspiration to and the team has kept us going and pushed us to winning trophies.
“I joined KCCA FC in 2016 with an ambition to turn into a professional athlete.
“Wearing the armband and being the Captain of this great club is without doubt one of the proudest achievements of my career so far.
The 27 years-old Uganda Cranes International joined KCCA FC in 2016 from Lweza Football Club and was a firm favorite among the fans at the Phillip Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
The former Proline Football Club custodian was made the “Kasasiro Boys” Captain in 2019 and this achievement has made his departure to St. George SC more difficult to accept.
Lukwago has spent five seasons at KCCA FC; lifting 2 Uganda Premier League titles in 2017 and 2019; 2 Uganda Cup titles in 2017 and 2018; 3 Supers Cup titles in 2017, 2018 and 2019; 1 Super 8 title in 2018 and the CECAFA Clubs Cup in 2019.
In his farewell message he also wrote about winning the CECAFA Clubs Cup.
“One of the most amazing days in my career was lifting the CECAFA Clubs Cup as Captain,” he noted.
With all the above achievements, Lukwago is without any doubt one of the most decorated players that have played at Lugogo.
Additionally, Lukwago was also a central figure in the KCCA FC team that played at the group stages in both the CAF Confederations Cup and CAF Champions League campaigns in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
Lukwago leaves KCCA FC convinced that he will one time return.
He wrote:
“I hope to return to KCCA FC in some capacity in the near future; THANK YOU”.
