The Futsal Association Uganda has held their second successful Annual General Assembly Meeting ( AGM) with the Chairman Hamza Jjunju reporting to the members that the association has registered tremendous growth and development in many areas but he was happy to single out the grassroots programs and engagements as well as the national Fustal league as the biggest achievements.

The Futsal Association Uganda AGM was held at Kenendia Hotel in Kampala on Friday. 26th. August.  2022 and the meeting is in fulfillment of it’s statutory requirements before the Annual General Meeting their parent body Federation of Uganda Football Associations ( FUFA) which is scheduled to take place in October.

FAU is one of the 34 members of FUFA having being officially admitted at its 95th ordinary Assembly held in Adjumani.

While addressing the assembly, the chairman of FAU, noted that Futsal is one of the fast growing sports in Uganda despite very many challenges that are hunting the sports industry.

“These are exciting times for the game of Futsal in Uganda as now we start to envision what started as a dream way back on 18th. March. 2015 at the MTN Arena, Lugogo, Kampala," Jjunju said.

“Futsal is one of the fastest growing sports in Uganda and we have so far successfully completed three League seasons, with the first ever league organized in 2017, which won by SAUNA FC," he added.

The Chairman also used his time to thank FUFA for the support extended to FAU; but still requested the football governing body fore more support.

“We appreciate the support that we have gotten from FUFA for the past few years, but still we need more support from our lovely federation for the smooth running of our events throughout the years,” Jjunju noted.

The assembly was also addressed by the FUFA Deputy CEO- Governance, Sam Bwakiika who represented the FUFA Executive Committee. 

In his remarks, Bwakiika said the Federation is happy to give all the necessary support to all its members to help them run their operations, and also noted that as FUFA, they are happy with the proceedings going on at FAU.

"FUFA is ready to give give all the necessary support to FAU because we are very happy with the proceedings going on at our member association," Bwakiika noted.

"I commend the work done by the administration led by Mr. Hamzah Jjunju, who has led this institution since inception, Bwakiika added”

Some of the resolutions passed at this year's assembly included admission of two more Futsal teams as members.

The assembly also discussed and passed the proposal to amend the membership statute to make sure that all members are represented by two delegates, of which one must be a female.

The assembly further passed a proposal to second the start of the Futsal boys and girls U12 League which will help in the development at the grassroots as well as lay a foundation for the preparations of the team that will carry Uganda's flag at the Youth Olympics in 2026.

In the area that covers good governance practices, the assembly also passed the activity report from the previous year as well as the budget for the upcoming season that totals to a tune of Ug. Shs. 191,100,000 that will cover activities to include among others; the Futsal Super League, Futsal Super Cup, Futsal Uganda Cup; Youth Academy galas; primary, secondary and University schools leagues and training for Futsal clubs administrators, referees and coaches.

The FAU brings together several members of the association that include the FAU Executive Committee, Futsal Club Representatives, FUFA Representatives, the media, Futsal Association Uganda Member Associations, the 8 Futsal Super league Clubs, Futsal Players Association, Futsal, Referees Association, Futsal Coaches Association, Futsal Women Association, Futsal Youth Association, Futsal Tertiary Institutions Association, Futsal Secondary Schools Association and Futsal Primary Schools Association.
