BEACH SOCCER: SAND CRANES READY FOR COMOROS SHOWDOWN

Sand Cranes Head Coach Salim Muwonge is impressed with the improvement in his squad ahead of the Beach Soccer AFCON 2022 Qualifiers against Comoros.

The Beach Soccer National Team entered residential training at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru a week ago and now into its very last days before flying out to Comoros later this week.

While speaking to the Media on Monday.18th. July at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, the Sand Cranes Head Coach was happy to note that he is delighted with the signs of preparedness that are visible amongst his players.

"After a week of residential training, the boys look to be in in perfect shape," Muwonge said.

“Since we arrived here, there is a big difference in terms of fitness levels of players and this is encouraging.

"I am confident the team will be ready for the upcoming games.

"As the technical team we opted to play several friendly games as a way of getting the much needed match fitness and making the players ready for the game ahead of us," he added.

The coach also reported that after a number of friendly matches; going by performance, he trimmed the provisional squad to 17 from the initial 20.

Before the team leaves for Comoros later this week, it will be trimmed further to 15 players.

The Sand Cranes face off with Comoros away in the 1st leg of the Beach Soccer AFCON 2022 Qualifiers match on Sunday. 24th. July. 2022; with the return leg in two weeks.

The winner on aggregate over two legs will on aggregate will qualify for the Beach Soccer AFCON Finals that will be held from 21st to 30th. October in Maputo, Mozambique.

At the last edition in Senegal, Uganda finished at the quarter finals stage.
